Children and Education
INTUITIVE, SPIRITUAL AND PSYCHIC INTELLIGENCES
Children exhibit many kinds of intelligences, from inter and intra
personal to social, athletic, musical, creative, special, as well
as linear and logical. I.Q. tests are inadequate measure of any
of these intelligences except the linear/logical. Therefore, gifted
children may be overlooked or labeled as pathological because they
are more gifted in these non-measured areas.
Among the most marginalized intelligences in children are the intuitive,
spiritual, and psychic/energetic. At very early ages, some children
are talking about or exhibiting behaviors that can astound, embarrass,
or frighten their parents and other adults who have no experience
in this territory of gifts.
Very often these children are “clairsentient” (which
means “clear feeling”) and they can pick up others’
denied or unspoken feelings and act out of them. Often children
will pick up the moods, or feeling that their parents refuse to
attend to or to examine and they will say or do things that represent
those feelings. The parents may then punish the child for acting
out, not realizing that if the parents choose to deal with their
feelings the child will stop acting out.
Other children talk about the angels they see, have invisible friends,
demonstrated precognition, telepathy, healing abilities and/or say
cryptic things that they themselves cannot interpret but “know.”
This is an area in which my research is only just beginning. James
Twyman has been supporting children with these gifts through his
conferences and through creating places where these children can
gather and find like-gifted peers.
