It's been a busy first quarter of 2009...what has broken down or broken through in your life? How many of you have lost a job, a loved one, or your connection to what was once familiar? It is challenging to remember that we are sharing this global transformational moment for both personal and communal reasons. While we personally grow and develop in our responses to intense challenges - we are not alone. The entire planet is experiencing adaptive challenges for which we, as a species, have no ready answers. It is only in employing our presence, skills, and hearts in conscious community that we can collectively create inspired, adaptive systems.
 
I've been witnessing the signals in my life - the messages that say, "pay attention and upgrade the quality of your relationship with Spirit." For most of the last month, my phone and internet carrier could not provide a sustained signal for my computer or phones. The company said the problem might be a wire coming from my wall that is too old - analogue and not digital. Hmmm...I had an minor accident with my car, and when I brought it in, they informed me that there was a spot where rust had gotten on the inside and that it might expand anytime, unless I got the door replaced. Hmmm...
 
These signals relate to consistency of meditation and prayer, as well as my open door, surrender and attention to Spirit. I have allowed myself to be distracted by my outer work and the busyness of raising a newly turned five year old. Without attending to the signals in my life, the quality of my outer relationships decrease as the fuel for my inspiration diminishes. Even committing to ten minutes a day of what Elizabeth Gilbert calls "a silence bath" may stabilize my "signal" and allow more flowing communiations in all directions.
